It’s a long time since we have had such a beautiful autumn. Days on end of bright clear air and positively raging colours! I am torn between going down to the coast to paint as the shimmer and sparkle of the sea are irresistible or going up to the moor which has a beauty all of its own.
My walk this morning took me to a nearby field where I could hear no cars or planes – our great “senses invaders”. What I could hear were one to two birds but mostly a low buzzing of flies and bees and a gentle rustling of leaves becoming drier and ready to fall to the ground. The river at the bottom of the valley threaded its way across Cornwall to the sea.
I walked home to pack my paints and brushes.
